During the heat of summer, what better way to cool off than a Firehouse Snowball? The famous Chestnut Ridge Volunteer Fire Company Snowball opens for business around Memorial Day and operates from 4 to 9 p.m. daily and usually longer hours on weekends. All proceeds go to support the Fire Company.

Every March or April, the firehouse grounds transform into a vibrant spring wonderland for our annual Easter Egg Hunt! We hide over 3,000 colorful, prize-filled eggs for children under 12 to discover, creating a thrilling scramble for the little ones. But the fun doesn't stop with the hunt—families can dive into a variety of festive springtime crafts, win exciting raffle prizes, and capture a beautiful holiday memory with a special photo setup featuring the Easter Bunny himself.

During Fire Prevention Week, the firehouse transforms into a bustling, family-friendly safety festival for our annual Open House. We invite the entire community to explore our station, get up close with our fleet of fire trucks, and meet the dedicated volunteers who serve you every day. Come hungry and ready for adventure—we’ll have great food, exciting fire engine rides, interactive safety demonstrations, and plenty of games and activities for the kids.

Every October, our firehouse parking lot transforms into a safe, festive wonderland for our annual Spooktacular Trunk or Treat. Volunteers and community members pull out all the stops to decorate their vehicles, creating a vibrant walkway of candy-filled trunks for the kids. The hauntingly good times continue with our highly anticipated kids' costume contests, special awards, hands-on spooky crafts, and plenty of Halloween magic.

Get your pumpkins for Halloween decoration and jack-o'-lantern carving at our annual Pumpkin Sale! We have a wide variety of beautiful pumpkins ranging from small to large. The sale runs on the honor system, so just pick out your pumpkins and place your payment (cash or check only) in the fireman's boot in the tent.

Each year, our members organize the Green Valley Turkey Trot, a family-friendly fun run that has become a staple holiday tradition. This event is about more than just getting active before the big meal; it’s a powerful fundraising engine that generates over $30,000 annually for two incredible causes. Your participation provides support for brave children fighting cancer and serious illnesses in regional hospitals, while also providing critical care, food, and shelter for homeless pets at the Baltimore Humane Society.

Beginning after Thanksgiving, we set up our Christmas Tree sale lot. We will deliver your tree to your home for free if you live in our first due area. All donations are tax deductible and 100% of the proceeds go towards keeping your fire station running 24 hours a day. Don’t wait too long to get yours – our high-quality trees sell out quickly!

In December, Santa Claus stops by the firehouse to host a special breakfast for kids and their families. Beyond a delicious morning meal, we turn the station into a winter wonderland filled with fun holiday games, festive crafts, and an exciting raffle you won't want to miss. Bring the family, meet Santa, and join in the festive fun!

Just before Christmas, Santa comes to Chestnut Ridge neighborhoods on one of our fire engines! We will do our best to visit your area, but our FIRST PRIORITY is responding to Emergency Incidents. If we have to cancel because of rain/snow or emergency calls, we will have make-up days. You can track Santa's progress using the Santa Tracker on the home page of this website.

Several times a year, we are proud to partner with the American Red Cross to host community blood drives right here at the station. Every donation plays a critical role in supporting regional hospitals and ensuring life-saving blood is available when patients need it most.

Every now and then, we set up our huge movie screen and show a family-friendly movie for free! Everyone is invited to come and enjoy a great film and food for movie-watching. Held outside, or inside our engine bay if the weather doesn't cooperate.
