Friday, February 26, 2010 - Early on Friday morning, Chestnut Ridge volunteers were called to the scene of a house fire near the intersection of Falls Rd. and Butler Rd. Engine-Tanker 503 as well as Tanker Support 504 responded to the call sense the area has no fire hydrants. Upon arrival crews encountered heavy fire and after battling the blaze for some time, were forced to take defensive action. Defensive measures are often taken in order to protect surrounding properties as well as to ensure the safety of fire personnel. Fortunately the house was uninhabited at the time and was used as a storage facility, however it was completely destroyed by the fire.
